Darker Waves returns to Huntington Beach on Saturday, November 14, 2026. It's a beachfront festival of new wave, post-punk and alt classics. Hotels near the coast fill up and get expensive fast on festival weekends, so here's how to plan your stay.
Where is Darker Waves?
The festival takes place at Huntington State Beach, along PCH near Beach Blvd. Always check the official festival site for the final venue map, set times and bag policy before you go.
Best areas to stay
- Downtown / Main Street. It's walkable to the Pier, but the priciest option and the noisiest after the show.
- Huntington Harbour & north HB (92649). It's quieter and residential, with a short rideshare to the festival. Our home is here.
- Costa Mesa / Fountain Valley. There are more hotels, but you'll face longer rides back through post-show traffic.
Why a whole home works for festival groups
If you're going with friends, splitting a house usually beats booking several hotel rooms. Our 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath HB home sleeps 7. You get one place to pregame, a BBQ island to grill before the show and a Brunswick pool table for the after-party. There's free parking at the house, so you can leave the car and take a rideshare.
Getting there & back
- Rideshare. It's the easiest option. Set your pickup a few blocks inland from PCH to avoid surge and gridlock after the last set.
- Parking. State beach and downtown lots fill early and festival rates apply. Arrive early if you're driving.
- Bike. The beach path is a great option if you're staying close to the coast.
